Tourist Place Madurai


Madurai is a temple city.It's the city which never sleeps.It is famous for jasmine flower.It is called by these names Koodal Maanagar, Thoongaa Nagar (Sleepless City), Malligai Maanagar (City of Jasmine) and Athens of the East.It is famous for Meenakshmi Amman temple. The orgin birth of Tamil Sangam was purely from Madurai.



Meenakshmi Amman temple is one of the big temple in India.It's one of seven wonders of India.This is one of the most famous temple in south Tamil Nadu.Emperor Pandian and poet Nakkeerar released some Tiruvilayaadal episodes of Sundareswarar that are enacted as a part of temple festival traditions even today.We cant find the entrance to come out because all the ways look like the same and all will be having same size and shape in towers .

Azhakar a beautiful vishnu temple which has Navagraham also(Usually Navagraham is found only in shivan temple.Most of the students do their regular prayer here as hayagrivar is the one who brought the epic fallen into water back to the earth. Azhakar Thiruvizha this is celebrated as the biggest festival in Madurai.




Porthamarai Kulam, the sacred pond inside the temple, is a very holy site for devotees. The name means the Pond with the Golden Lotus, and the lotus that grows in it has a golden color. No marine animals are found in the lake.





Thousand Pillar Hall



Aayiram Kaal Mandapam or Thousand Pillar Hall contains 985 carved pillars. There is a Temple Art Museum in the hall where icons, photographs, drawings, and other exhibits of the 1200 years old history are displayed.The south of the pillared hall, is the place where marriage of Shiva and Parvati is celebrated every year during the Chithirai Festival in mid-April.


Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal








This is four times bigger than the present structure. It was divided into two parts, Swarga-vilasa and Ranga-vilasa. There are many arts which was drawn and written in the pillars.There are 248 pillars, each 58 feet tall and 5 feet in diameter.The palace is equipped to perform light and sound shows depicting the story of Silappathikaram, in both Tamil and English languages.


Gandhi Museum



The museum displays information about Mahatma Gandhi, and most importantly it showcases the original blood-stained garment of Gandhi. This museum, is one of the 5 museums in India. Gandhi with various leaders all around the world and also during various incidents of freedom struggle is kept.No entry fee for museum visitors.

Thiruparankundram

The traditional legend is that Lord Murugan married Deivanai at Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple.This is the place which is one of the home of Lord Murugan.This is also a famous temple in South India.



Kazimar Big Mosque (Periya Pallivasal)and Maqbara,Goripalayam Dargah these are the famous Dargah in madurai.


THere is a a big Chruch called St. Mary’s Cathedral Church s the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madurai. It is one of the oldest Roman Catholic churches in India.Its near to Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal.


There is a big theme park called Athisayam water theme park,and there are many parks and entertainment places to go and spend a nice time in our life.they are Eco park,Hava valley,Rajaji children park.

There are many nice places to see near by Madurai they best places to spend our times Kodaikanal, Vaigai Dam,Coutrallam,Palani Hills.










There is an National Air port here.International Airport is under construction.If you are coming by trains we can find many trains because from Chennai mostly all the trains will be going through Madurai only.Bus also many private and Government buses are available.
